Show TV TATTLE I , A bevy of beauties Joan Van Ark of "Knots Landing" and "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker will be the television hosts when the "1983 Miss USA Pageant" airs live on CBS Thursday, May 12. Knoxville, Tenn., is the site of the 32nd pageant, which features 51 of the most beautiful women in America. One representative representa-tive from each state, and the District of Columbia, will be vying for $150,000 in cash and prizes. The current Miss Universe, Karen Baldwin of Canada, will make a guest appearance and the new title holder will be crowned by Miss USA 1982, Terri Utley. This year's winner will compete in the "1983 Miss Universe Pageant" to be broadcast live on CBS Monday, July 11 from St. Louis, Mo. In the more than three decades of the pageant there have been only five winners from the United States. The 'Garden' grows It's time to look for May flowers, and there is no better bet-ter place than at "The Victory Victo-ry Garden." The popular WGBH-pro-duced series began its 26- show run a month ago, hosted host-ed by garden guru Bob Thomson. This week Thomson takes viewers to Hawaii for a look at Honolulu's Walker Gardens. This exotic area was once owned by Hawaiian royalty. Horticulturist Horticul-turist Horace Clay also takes Thomson on a tour of the island's unique Japanese-styled backyard gardens. In the kitchen, Chef Marian prepares one of her vegetable specialties. "This season, more than others before, we'll be traveling trav-eling throughout the United States and abroad," says Thomson.
