' I' LJa LA Dan Rather SMILES AT 11 - Our favorite station is CBS because of the dignity and restraint in the presentation of news That's why we switched from ABC some time ago: the decor of the studio and the makeup on the newscasters created an optical jungle. Our questions are: Is Diane Sawyer married mar-ried and wouldn't it be lovely love-ly if Dan Rather said good night with a smile? We have watched Jessica Savitch because of that lovely smile when she says good night. D.J., Roswell, N.M. Diane is single and Dan is serious. (Do you have a question about TV? Looking tan and terrific, Beulah Garrick (Violet Ren-field Ren-field on "Guiding Light") recently returned from a vacation in the Hawaiian islands. After spending three days in Honolulu, Beulah and her husband, actor Bernard Pollock, spent nine days on the island of Maui. "I didn't think I'd be recognized recog-nized on Maui," says Miss Garrick, "but it happened everywhere. First the guests at my hotel, then the staff everywhere I went I had leis put around my neck, or I was given gardenias. By the time I left, my refrigerator at the hotel was filled with beautiful flowers." |
