' : I . . 1 f - " ART IVIRWERS The Bounliful-Davis Art Center's annual Davis County Competition Show opened Sunday. April 17 exhibiting some of the finest artwork being created by artists in Davis County. Winners of the Davis County art competition, sponsored by the Bountiful-Davis Art Center are seated left to right, George Handrahan, first place; and Roger Cushing, second place. Standing and placing third is Craig Bybee. COMPETITION '83 winners win-ners were presented their awards at the opening. First place winner of a $500 cash award was George Handrahan of Kaysville for his oil painting "Levan, Utah;" second place winner of a $300 cash award was Roger Cushing of Center-ville Center-ville for his oil painting "Autumn "Au-tumn Impressions" and third place winner of a $150 cash award was Craig Bybee for his watercolor "Flowers and Crystal Vase." Honorable mentions were awarded to David W. Jackson, Nancy Lund, Michael J. Manfull, Mary Ann Smith and Raymond Jones. There were 146 paintings entered en-tered in this year's competition and of those, 67 were chosen to be in the show. The juror for Competition '83 was Vern G. Swanson, director of the Springville Museum of Art. Entries were limited to paintings, paint-ings, drawings and prints and were limited to current residents resi-dents of Davis County only. THE DAVIS County Competition Com-petition Show-Competition '83 will be on view at the Bountiful-Davis Art Center, 2175 S. Main in Bountiful until May 27. There is no admission charge to view the exhibit. Gallery hours are Monday 5-9 p.m.; Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 2-5 p.m. |
