Show Halt to watering called by Vernal City Ashley Valley water users are requested re-quested to curtail all outside watering Wednesday and Thursday while officials of-ficials attempt to isolate problems in the water system. For the past two weeks, water officials of-ficials have been unable to fill the Maeser and Asphalt Ridge water tanks. "We really don't know why," said Kay Overson, Vernal City Public Works director. "It could be excessive water leaks or we are over using our supply." Community Consultants, a Provo based municipal water testing company, com-pany, will check the Ashley Valley system every half mile from the chlorinator to the tanks and beyond Wednesday and Thursday to locate the problem. "They have instruments which can be put in the line and measure gallons per minute flow," Overson said. Not being able to fill the two water tanks that supply much of Vernal City Ci-ty and the lower end of Ashley Valley, presents a risk in case of fire. "People run out of water on the higher elevation, but that doesn't 1 worry me as much as the possibility of a fire and-not having enough supply," supp-ly," Overson said. Overson said that when people curtail cur-tail outside watering the tanks will fill, but when the system is back in full use they don't. |
