Show Care for garage door Family security is one very good reason a growing number of homeowners are looking over their garage doors very carefully. They know that a well-maintained garage door is an important key to keeping the uninvited outside and keeping families safely on the inside. Following these tips from Frank S. Fitzgerald, president of the Garage Door Council, may help you during a garage door security check. Says Fitzgerald: If your garage door is damaged in any way, don't put off repairs. An electrically operated door, if properly pro-perly counterbalanced, will operate smoothly. If counterbalancing isn't done right at installation, it will reduce the life expentancy of your door opener. Look for qualified repair people. Check the Yellow Pages under "Doors" for your nearest garage door dealer. Look for those dealers who display the emblem of the Fair Western Garage Door Association or the Door and Operator Dealers of America. Keep the tracks and other moving parts properly lubricated. This type of maintenance can be done by most handy han-dy do-it-yourselfers. Remember, a good garage door not only safeguards your family's security securi-ty but is energy-efficient as well. When properly installed and maintained, it can open the door to convenience, peace of mind and savings. |
