Because July 24 falls on a Sundav. this year, festive activities commemorating com-memorating the first settlers to Utah ,riU be on Monday, July 25. A flag raising ceremony will be at 5 45 a.m. According to Garth Atwood, the ceremony will "be something special." The annual Scout breakfast till be served from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. The flag raising ceremony will be at the Bicentenial Pavilion. The breakfast will be $3.75 per person, p 50 for up to three people ana a maximum max-imum of $15 per family. The parade entries will begin lining up at 9a.m. at the Uintah County Courthouse Cour-thouse on 100 North to the east. The parade will feature the Provo High School marching band and will begin at 10 a.m. and proceed west on 100 North to the Bicentennial Pavilion. Skydivers will jump at 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. near the pavilion. A short band recital by the Provo High School marching band will be at the pavilion at 11:30 a.m. Two distance foot races will begin at 7 a.m. One will be a 5y2-mile run and the other a 2-mile run. Registration will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Both races will begin at the pavilion and are intended to be family events. Prizes will be given to winning families, as well as individuals in different age groups at 11:15 a.m. along with parade entry winners. At 12:30 p.m. activities at the pavilion will begin with an archery contest and a chain saw rivalry between bet-ween Egor and Olaf . An ultralight aircraft air-craft will drop ping-pong balls which can be redeemed for special prizes. Famous cartoon characters along with Big Bird will be in the parade and at the pavilion. A demolition derby will be in the afternoon south of the Uintah County-Vernal County-Vernal City Landfill. All of the money raised by the day's activities will go to the Boy Scout program. |
