Show Lapoint youth injured in auto accident Larry Huber, 16, of Lapoint, was injured in-jured Sunday afternoon about 6 p.m. when a tire on the pickup he was riding in blew out and threw him from the bed of the pickup. The pickup was proceeding at about 60 mph southbound on Highway U-44, about 3 miles north of Steinaker Reservoir, Reser-voir, when the right front tire blew out. This caused the vehicle to veer sharply sharp-ly to the right, causing Huber to lose his balance and fall from the pickup in which he was standing. Uintah County Deputy Sheriff Manuel Cantu responded to the scene and controlled traffic until Red Pine Ambulance Service arrived. Emergency medical technicians were able to stabilize Huber before he was transported to the Ashley Valley Medical Center. At the scene he was diagnosed as having injuries to the right shoulder, right and left arms and forearms, multiple abrasions and possible head, neck, and back injuries. Huber was treated at Ashley Valley Medical Center and held overnight. He was diagnosed as having a skull fracture. frac-ture. He was flown by lifeflight Monday Mon-day morning to a hosptial in Salt Lake City, where he remains in critical condition. |
