The Pageant, entitled "America's Witness For Christ," is an annual summer sum-mer presentation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons). The event has been acclaimed by the New York Times as "American's most elaborate religious Pageant." It hosts a cast of over 650 children and adults from approximately 40 states and Canada, and spans 25 hillside stages, making it the largest outdoor religious pageant in America. Special effects, including the world's largest outdoor sound system and mist screens of water, make this dramatic presentation presenta-tion truly a spectacle of sight and sound. The Pageant sory is a unique depiction depic-tion of scenes from both the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible. Taken together, these scenes tell of the civilization that flourished in the Americas from 600 B.C. through the coming of Christ to the Western Hemisphere in 34 A.D. The Pageant also includes scenes illustrating the origins of the Mormon Church. These young people will be appearing appear-ing in performances beginning at 9 p.m. July 22 through July 30, except Sunday and Monday, before audiences averaging 18,000 to 20,000 each night. |
