Show Miss UBIC announced Anxiously ten girls waited and listened as the five finalists for the UBIC Queen Contest were announced. Brendy Hunsaker, Allison Lewis, Leslie Hanchett all of Vernal and Vicky Burton and Penny Rawlings from Roosevelt found their place among those announced. Suspense built as the time drew near for the final reading. Vicky Burton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wilcken, will be the 1983 UBIC Queen with Penny Pen-ny Rawlings, daughter of Mr . and Mrs. Shirl Rawlings, as first attendant and Leslie Ann Hanchett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Hanchett as second attendant. The Miss UBIC Scholarship Pageant was held Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m. at the Union High School. Milt Christensen of Bountiful was master of ceremonies for the evening. Theme for the event was "Under The Big Top". The production number featuring all of the contestants was performed to "Come Follow the Band." Each contestant participated in the parade of evening gowns on stage for the audience to view each girl as well as for the judges to take note as this was one of the areas of competition. The stage was filled with various types of talent as each took their turn entertaining. The swim suit contest and the interviews inter-views were held early in the day. Special trophies were given to the following contestants: swim suit contest, con-test, Vicky Burton; interview and talent. Penny Rawlings; and evening gown, Leslie Hanchett. |
