Show Manila Clara Robinson Phone 784-5333 1 3 Cow Country Rodeo held Gwen Reed and her attendant Robin Sadlier reigned over the two-day Cow Country Rodeo held at the County Corrals Cor-rals in Manila July 16 and 17. A good sized crowd attended both days. A dance was held on Saturday evening at the Manila High School, but not heavily attended. A pancake breakfast was served at the rodeo grounds on Sunday morning by the fire department. This year all around cowgirl was Peggy Briggs. She was Manila's only woman contestant among the winners in any of the events. The all around cowboy was Bret Atkinson of Kamas, Utah. Winners in the various events were as follows: goat tying, Debbie Morrison, Mor-rison, 1st and Peggy Briggs, 2nd; calf roping, Dave Kosoff, 1st, Mike Vickery, 2nd, Craig Hurdsman, 3rd, Boyd Pallesen, 4th; kids barrel racing, Kerry Gustafson, 1st, Brandy Wilkins, 2nd, Jody Behunin, 3rd J. R. Pallesen, 4th ; junior barrel racing, Lisa Hickey , 1st, Susan Surrage, 2nd, Tracy Allen, 3rd, KayDe Pallesen, 4th; ladies barrel bar-rel racing, Debbie Gardea, 1st, Peggy Pallesen, 2nd, Lisa McNeil, 3rd, Cindy Cin-dy Young, 4th; saddle bronc, Hal Cor-nia, Cor-nia, 1st, Burl Yeilding, 2nd, Gary Case, 3rd, Rick Austin, 4th; breakaway roping, rop-ing, Gena Blonquist, 1st and Ann Peterson. 2nd; bull riding, Casey Aimone, 1st, Bruce Higley and Wayne Jensen tied for 2nd and 3rd, Charles Jones, 4th, Gary Adams 5th; bareback riding, Clint Wilde, 1st, Jeff Martin, 2nd, Cornia and Allen Black tied for 3rd; team roping, Phil Provost and Scott Spencer, 1st, Raymond Pallesen and Rex Peterson, 2nd, Ralph Eracabrack and Lynn Snow, 3rd, Jody Shrock and Bill Hale, 4th, Steve Wilson and Greg Peart, 5th; bull dogging Glen Black, 1st, Bret Atkinson, 2nd. Hardluck awards were awarded as follows: bareback riding, Bret Reeder, ladies goat tying, Val Muir, calf roping, rop-ing, Shane Hurdsman, saddle bronc, Dale Erickson, bull dogging, Bill Wenli, kids barrel racing, Aimee Wilson, junior barrel racing, Barbara Huntington, bull riding, Scott Knud-son, Knud-son, team roping, Blaine Bingham and Howard Quinn, break-away roping, rop-ing, Trudy Moon. The Daggett County Lions Club sponsors the Cow Country Rodeo each year. Chairmen for the 1983 rodeo were Mark Anderson and Brent Larson. Lar-son. Rodeo contractor was Danny Clegg and secretaries, Wendy Anderson Ander-son and Edie Pallesen. Timer for the barrel racing was Luann Guest. Judges were Glen Wadsworth and Jack Hickey.
