I "t III A - 1 t - Bob Ziegler, president of Park City Village Associates, Asso-ciates, is beginning a one-year one-year term as president of the Park City Board of Realtors. During the coming year, Ziegler told the Record, the 160-member organization will improve its multiple-listing multiple-listing services. It will also look at the issue of proliferating pro-liferating real-estate signs in Park City. Ziegler, who was vice-president vice-president over the past year, now succeeds to the top spot. This is the customary procedure proce-dure in the organization, he said. In 1982-83, he served under Mike Sloan. Each year, as a new president is named, the executive board meets to pick, from its own ranks, a new vice-president and secretary-treasurer. It will do so in the next two weeks, said Ziegler. (The retiring secretary-treasurer is Bonnie Bon-nie Peretti.) Real-estate signs posted around town are a major concern to the Board of Realtors, he said. "There are so many up that it seems a major portion of Park City is up for sale." The perception percep-tion doesn't help property sellers or sales agents, he added. In reality, he said, much of the town has already been sold. Real-estate sales the past year amounted to $55 million, compared to $26 million the previous year. Such information will be offered in weekly statistical reports given to the paper, he said. The Board of Realtors maintains a multiple-listing service to help sales. This year it will be computerized, he said. A file in the Board of Realtors office will be linked to computer terminals in real-estate offices around the city. When a customer walks into an office seeking a particular kind of unit, the realtor can "punch up" the listing and find out what's available. The Board seeks to educate edu-cate and increase the, professionalism pro-fessionalism of realtors in u.. v i.,, .,,,, mi .i - -- - j Pictured from left to right are the new members of the Park City Board of Realtors: Don Sturges, Mary Wagner, and Jim Lea, along with Board president Bob Ziegler. be placed around the Park City Library, he said. It also keeps busy disseminating information passed down from the national and state Board of Realtors. Ziegler graduated from Stanford with a Bachelor of Arts, and spent six years as a naval officer and carrier pilot. He has had a real estate license since 1962, and has been a Utah broker (and Park City resident) for four years. He is also president of the Park City Resort Center Merchants Association, by virtue of owning Ziggy's Pizzeria. He is also a member of the Rotary Club, and chairman of the building committee for Kimball Art Center. It wants to teach sales agents how to talk about investment properties pro-perties in a way that avoids misrepresentation. "In selling sell-ing to a client it's easy to exaggerate the expected return he might get from a property, or the rents he could charge," said Ziegler. The Board also orients members to rules of ethics. "This sounds a little strong, but we're self-policing. We have a Professional Standards Stan-dards Committee," he said. The committee arbitrates disputes between sales agents over commissions, or hears charges of unethical conduct against its members. mem-bers. The Board is also a contributing member of the community.
