Show Silver Kicks start on the right foot The Park City Silver Kicks started off their season on the right foot last week with a convincing 5-1 victory over Alemannia, one of the top teams in Utah women's soccer last season. Playing on their home field Sept. 14, the Silver Kicks scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-1 lead at the intermission. The icing on the cake came with two goals late in the game. The hero of the game was Madonna Harris, who scored three Park City goals and helped set up the other two. However, team representative representa-tive Jill Snyder said the whole team contributed to the winning effort, passing well and backing up one another. Harris opened the scoring early in the game with a shot from the center of the field which eluded the Alemannia goalkeeper. A few minutes later she fed a pass to Vicki Beck for the team's second goal. Then, before the half was over, Harris had scored her second goal on a pass from right winger Jill Snyder. Sny-der. Alemannia 's only goal also came in the first half, when a bouncing shot eluded Park I City goaltender Kathy Ben-ner. Ben-ner. Goal number three for Madonna Harris, and number num-ber four for the team, came on a long shot which sailed over the heads of the fullbacks and the goalie. Snyder completed the scoring scor-ing with a hard shot into the top corner of the net after a pass from (who else but) Harris. The Silver Kicks' second league game was scheduled to have been played Wednesday Wednes-day evening, Sept. 21, after this issue went to press. Game number three comes, up Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. on the high school field. I |
