Show Par kite accepted at Occidental College Park City resident Jennifer Jenni-fer Powers, a graduate of East High School, begins undergraduate work this month at Occidental College where she will join a freshman class numbering 428. "Jennifer will be an outstanding out-standing addition to Occidental's Occi-dental's distinguished group of freshmen," observed Jim Montoya, director of admis sion at the college. The admission director notes that Occidental is a nighly selective Institution. As a result, he states, "Our new freshmen are well prepared to handle the rigors of a fine liberal arts college." The class of 1987 . is composed of students from 32 states and 22 countries. Approximately 72 percent of these students come from public schools and 28 percent from private schools. More than 41 percent of these recent high school graduates were in the top five percent of their classes, and six percent were valedictorians. Occidental College, a private liberal arts institution institu-tion of 1,500 students is located in Los Angeles, near Pasadena. |
