Show Ski Town Tournament fizzles For the first three years of the tournament, there were plenty of teams but the weather was atrocious. This year the weather was gorgeous but there were no teams. The Fourth Annual Ski Town Soccer Tournament almost became a non-event last weekend when teams from Sun Valley and Steamboat Springs called up and cancelled at the last minute. That left a men's tournament tour-nament with only two teams Park City and Telluride and a women's tournament with only one Park City. Frantic last-minute phone calls managed to produce two other local teams a women's team from Ogden and a Pan World men's team from Salt Lake tc provide some token opposition, and the "tournament" was on. However, the title "Ski Town Tournament . Champion" still had a hollow ring. In the women's event, Park City and Ogden played two games. The first game ended in a l-l tie; the second went to Ogden by a 2-1 score. According to team representative Jill Snyder, the Park City team played shorthanded for half of the first game and all of the second. In the men's tournament, Park City found itself in their place, dropping a 1-0 decision to Telluride and a 2-0 2-0 decision to Pan World. |
