Show THEORIZE ON ANCIENT WATER PIPE BELIEVED RELIC OF "LAND OF NOD" FOREST SERVICE HEARS WILD TALES Further theories regarding a section of sandstono pipo found on the VJovIcr forest, and which was believed to havo been the means of supplying water to an ancient flourishing city, have been expounded by natives of Pangulteh. Visitors at the local forest offices, of-fices, havo appeared In past months declaring that tho finding of tho pipo was certain proof that this country was at one time tho "land of Nod" and prior to the deluge, one of the greatest governments gov-ernments that had been organized organiz-ed at that time. J. E. Scolt, national na-tional forest examiner, says Ihls explanation was offered him, together to-gether with information which inferred "that wo aro living in tho latter days and the tlmo Is approaching ap-proaching when the mysteries concerning this country, which for untold ages havo been kept from mortal mind:), will bo brought to light." Mr. Scott declared that ono visitor w.i3 enthused over tho finding of tho old well and declared de-clared it a tangible proof that a civilization beyond present conception con-ception existed thousands upon thousands of years ago. Not so with dwellers of tho forests in which tho well was lo cated, however. They claim that tho "well" is but the result of natural phenomena and claim that in by-gone days, (all arc agreed in tho fact that the pipe was formed Somo tlrrio ago), a treo foil to tho ground. It was surrounded by limoslono by natural na-tural agoncies and when tho tree which formed the core of the mass rotted away, the pipe was loft. Several examples of this sort can fe found in tho Sevier forest, for-est, it is claimed. This theory, whllo not 'absolutely 'abso-lutely shattered, I3 slightly bent by reports which have beep received re-ceived by forest officials regarding regard-ing the find. These reports are that tho pipe is segmented and is mado up of four separate pieces, apparently moulded of clay, or chlslcd from solid rock. While various theories and suppositions have been advanced regarding tho "pipo" tho matter is expected to be fujly settled when investigated during tho coming summer by a geological party from tho University of Utah, which has announced its intentions of finding the site of tho "pipo" and determining as near a3 possible it's origin and use. |
