Show Girl's Mother. Posing As Servant, Saves Her From False. Suitor On the point of deserting her ambitious am-bitious young husband for his "best friend," a prominent young society girt of a wealthy suburb adjacent to New York was recently saved from disgrace dis-grace by a servant in'her household, who. unknown to her, was her own mother. Not only did this watchful guardian of ihe girl's name and future happiness happi-ness prevent her from meeting the man who sought to betray his friend, but through a clever ruse, she arrang ed for the husband to return home just after the young girl had renounced her false suitor. A temporary misunderstanding, wMiich had arisen, was speedily cleared away, and the young couple were reunited, re-united, without knowledge of the part the woman in tho background had played In the matter. Satisfied that the girl, whom she dared not claim as her daughter because be-cause of an indiscretion in her own life, was safe, the woman left the house without revealing her identity. This dramatic episode forms one of the strong scenes in the Screencraft production. "The Prodigal Wife,", which is to be shown at the Utah theatre the-atre beginning today. ; The production is said to be far, above ihe average in the dramatici strength of Its story and in the amount of heart Interest which It con- tains. It features Mary Boland, for a long time leading woman for John Drew, and Lucy Cotton, for the past two years star of Cohan & Karris' widely known success, "Turn to the! Right." |
