Show FOREST SE1CE YETEd RESIGNS Major Fenn Goes Into Private Business After Long Service Serv-ice in Idaho, Montana MISSOULA, Mont., April 9 Effective Effec-tive March 31, the resignation of Ma-jjor Ma-jjor Frank A. Fenn, who for nearly a score of years has been an employe of. the federal forest service, was tender-) cd. Mr. Fenn, who resigned as assis-J tant district forester of the first dis- i tiict, with headquarters here, will got into private business at Kooskia, Ida- ho. I Major Fenn entered the service in! 1901 at Boise, Idaho, as forest super-' Intendcnt of all the fprests of that, state. A year later his jurisdiction was; broadened to include the forests of j Montana as well, and he remained in r, charge of this office Until 1905, -when! tho inspector districts were created.! Then he became supervisor of the' Sawtooth forest in Idaho. When the reorganization of the forest service! was undertaken, in 1906, Mr. Fenn worked for two years in organizing the new forest units in Montana and) Idaho, and installing supervisors. Then -ho served as supervisor of the Flathead, Flat-head, Bitter Rool, Clearwater and Sel-. way forests for several years. In June, 1915, Major Fenn was ap- pointed assistant district forester with headquarters at Missoula, and placed in charge of lands. At that time he came to make his home in Missoula He was born inCalifornia and went to Idaho with his .parents in 1862, locating lo-cating near Gvangeville. He lived p that state for 52 years, where he attained at-tained some political prominence, becoming be-coming the speaker of the first state legislature at Boise in 1891 and serving serv-ing in the legislature there for three' terms, representing Idaho county. Ini 1S9S he went as captain with the" First Idaho guard to Cuba, and re- turned from the Spanish-American war as a major. j |
