Show Hot Dogs, Red Nose and let Me lav I saw one little kid (and I do mean little) eat 6 during the afternoon. He covered all 6 with big helpings of onions and relish. I'll bet he got sick at least twice during the night, By Mary Gae Evans What a weekend! I had forgotten how wild a summer holiday weekend could be. If you think I mean I had a really good time, you're wrong. I worked in the concession stand at the Parowan race meet. Boy oh boy did people love our hamburgers. Saturday was bad enough, but when I got up and looked in the mirror on Sunday and knew I still had to go through Monday, I really got discouraged. My hair was sticking straight up on one side, my eyes were swelled half shut with fatigue, and my sunburn sun-burn lines resembled a raccoon where my dark glasses Jiad protected 2 round circles around my eyes although I can't really remember being in the sun much. I think everyone in Iron County was there on Monday and they were all hungry. As a member of the Red Hill Wranglers, I was grateful for the large crowd and I'm sure everyone on the outside of the concession stand had a great time. In fact one group of fellows had such a good time they stayed and had foot races after the horse races were over. Then they stopped again on their way out the gate for a few friendly arm wrestles. The weather was beautiful--a really drastic change from last week's snow. A lot of people who came in the gate with lovely white skin went out with a slightly red tint. I don't think I'll be the only one who's nose is peeling. I do want to give a great big thank you to everyone who supported the Wranglers by comine to the races and hplnintr j 0 with the work. After I sit here another 5 or 10 minutes with my swollen feet in this tub of hot water, I'm going to start looking forward to the next fun holiday. I hope it's a week or two away, I need a little time to recover. |
