Show I Rams overpower Thunderbirds 72-52 PAROWAN-TheParowan Rams showed that they are definitely a team that must be contended with this season as they traveled to Junction Friday night and defeated the Thunderbirds by 20 points -- 72-52. The score is not a true reflection of the game. Although; the Rams lead all the way, the Thunderbirds were never out of it until the closing minutes. , Nine players saw action for the Rams lead by Bradley Fife's outstanding 31 points, 18 offensive assists and 67 per cent shooting from the field. Coach Riggs felt that Brad amazed the fans with fakes, rocker steps, assists, ball control, and his calmness under pressure. Mike Evans, Mike Robinson, Brent Rowley and Mike Benson, added polish to the victory. Perhaps an "un-sung" hero for the Rams is the defensive great sixth man, Kim Bess. Coach Riggs says "its great having someone like Kim to go to when Brent Rowley or Mike Robinson need a boost." Pat Benson has also demonstrated great ability for the Rams. Scores went as follows: Brad Fife 31 ; Mike Evans 14, Mike Robinson 4, Brent Rowley 12, Kim Bess 3, Pat Benson 4, and Mike Benson 4. For the Rams the team statistics showed 59.6 percent per-cent from the field, 86 percent from the foul line and only eight turnovers for the game. The goals of this team are being realized each day it seems. Coach Riggs attributes at-tributes this to the attitude of his team on the practice floor. The thrill of victory turned to humility as the Rams traveled to Dixie High School Saturday and fund out what it feels like to be dominated like they dominated Piute Friday night. With Dixie scoring 62 percent from the field and taking the Rams game plan away from them , the Flyers warmed up after a loss Friday on the Cedar High home court. The Rams played even par with the Flyers for the first quarter, then fell behind, never threatening again in the game. Coach Riggs said that "the pre-season is a great assest when trouble shooting their game plans. We can regroup re-group for next week after learning a lot tonight,'" HE COMMENTED AFTER THE GAME. Scoring went as follows for the Rams: Brent Rowley 20, Brad Fife 17, Mike Evans 13, Mike Benson 5, and Mike Robinson 4. |
