V t i 155 - Cole Adams 167 - Kevin Robinson 185 - Chris Lamoreaux Unlimited Tad Starr Payson holds a victory over the Dixie Flyers and are expected to be especially tough at the 132 and unlimited weights. Against Pleasant Grove, a team described as "the best High School team I've ever seen," the Redmen picked up only two victories. Chris Nelson at 98 and Kendall Parry wrestling at 112, both won by decision. All other matches were won by Pleasant Grove by pins. In the SUSC Invitational won by Delta over a 4-A school, Skyline, the Redmen had four of their men pick up third places. Nelson at 98, Parry at 112, Shakespear at 132 and Robinson at 167 all had third place finishes in the SUSC Invitational which included eight competing schools. Cedar City High School grapplers took it on the chin in their first two outings, suffering a 60-6 loss to a strong Pleasant Grove team in Pleasant Grove and finishing on the bottom of the SUSC Invitational this past week. This week the Redmen will be at home against Payson in a contest that should show a truer picture of the strength of the Redmen grapplers. "We are young and if we continue to improve as we have over the past two matches we could be competitive by the time Region comes around," Coach Dave Clark stated. The matches against Payson will begin with exhibitions at 6 p.m. and the varsity matches at 7 p.m. Expected to get the call for the varsity matches are: 98 - Chris Nelson 105 - Lance Halterman 112 - Kendall Parry 119 - Mike Lambert 126 - Stan Torgerson 132 -- Scott Shakespeare 138 -- George Deltoro 145 - Craig Embley or Cloyd Orton KENDALL PARRY Parry posted a win over Pleasant Grove and finished third in SUSC Invitational meet. He wrestles at 112 pounds and is one of the veterans on the Redman squad. |
