Show Red men defeat Flyers in Overtime 64-59 vv XSfx GOES FOR BUCKET. Craig Jensen, leading scorer in the over-time win against Dixie, drives for the basket and two points. Jensen hit for 20 points to lead Redmen scoring. "We could have collapsed, we could have given up, but we didn't, that was the big factor in the game." Those are the words of Coach John Neilsen in assessing the Cedar High School Redmen's opening over-time 64-59 victory over arch rival Dixie Flyers. The Redmen trailed throughout the game and at one point, with the score 34-25, 34-25, "our boys could have given up, but they stayed in there and fought," Neilsen said. Only in the final period of play did the Redmen make a charge and they took a lead midway in the period. They lost that lead and with three seconds on the clock were still behind by two before Mike Graf connected on a 10 foot jumper to knot the score at 57-all and force the overtime. In the overtime it was Nathan Johnson tanking a jumper to put the Redmen out in front and Dixie had to play catch-up ball as Coach Neilsen sent his Redmen into a four corners offensive stall after obtaining the lead. On the positive side, the "Redmen showed poise in not giving up," Neilsen stated. On the negative side of the ledger, the Redmen are still going to have a battle on their hands on the boards. Against Dixie the Redmen were outrebounded 32-19. Leading rebounder for the Redmen was Kerry Cox with five and Mike Graf and Johnson shared the honors for assists with five each. The Redmen hit only 37.7 percent from the field. The Flyers, in the losing effort, had 44 percent. "Johnson came on strong in the second half and paced the Redmen come-from-behind effort. That along with the steady play from start to finish by Craig Jensen make us believe that we can put it all together during the season," Neilsen said.
