Show Commissioners approve Three EDA Projects Final approval was given by the county commissioners Thursday for three EDA (Economic Development Agency) projects, all being done by local firms. After receiving the go-ahead by phone from the Regional office of EDA, Engineer Ralph B. Piatt advised ad-vised the commissioners to accept the low bids of R. A. Childs and Blackburn Black-burn and Gower on the three seperate projects. Childs will be involved in three different schedules of road resurfacing: resur-facing: The Vandenberge Interchange In-terchange to Kanarraville, from Summit to Parowan (Highway 91) and from the Beryl Junction to six miles north. Blackburn and Gower were the low bidders on the Wood's Ranch shelter-pravillion shelter-pravillion project, and installing of headwalls along five and one-half miles of the Lund Highway. Final approval was given on the projects after the contractors had made "good faith" efforts in obtaining ob-taining "minority" suppliers or subcontractors. Federal regulations require the 10 percent minority business involvement. ' Piatt said he felt it "was easier to satisfy the requirements than to justify a waiver." Money involved in the projects is: $391,855.55 for the road projects; $29,000 for the shelter and $29,250 for the headwall improvement. |
