Show CVrn- r'1 VA - PINK PROJECT. Twin babies of Ann and Vaughn Neilson, Cedar City, left the Valley View Medical Center this week in stockings made especially for them by the Pink Lames Association. The boys, to be named Jade and Jase, were born November 20, five weeks early. They were met at home by two older brothers. VVMC seeking for Pink Ladies The cry for more pink ladies was made this week by association president Mary Finley, stating she needs volunteers who can help both at the hospital and at home. "We feel like we are doing a real good service here," Mrs. Finlay said, "and we need as many as we can get even if only for a couple of hours a week." The pink ladies have been deeply involved in the Health Care Foundation Bazaar recently, she said, plus the pink ladies serve the patients at the hospital and help the nurses when they can. Running of the snack bar also comes under the auspices of the volunteers. "Not so long ago, the snack bar was $1,000 in debt," Mrs. Finley said. "But now we have got $3,000 in the bank and have donated to infant care equipment." The pink ladies are also involved in bake sales, fund raising events, selling of Christmas Cards, magazine sales and the selling of ' handmade items at the , hospital. . , , ; ' 'THerr-are,''i'Jt'things'' volunteers can do for us at home," she said, "such as make things for the gift shop. Volunteers can still count their hours when they work at home." Pins are given annually to those volunteers who demonstrate their committment through their hours, she said. The Pink Ladies Association also has a scholarship fund (arising from snack bar profits) for any candy striper" who chooses to go into the medical field. Officers for the group are, besides Mrs. Finley, president elect Laverl Henessey, secretary Myrna Getz'and Wilma Petty will soon be in charge of the candy stripers. r |
