Show T-bird JV's lick wounds after defeats "We get the week off to pull things back together," Steve Lunt, Southern Utah State College junior varsity basketball coach said, and he sounded grateful for the respite. Lunt's crew finished its opening week of play with three losses, two came at the hands of Utah Technical College-Provo (88-83 at Cedar City and 107-86 at Provo) and one to Utah State University's junior varsity (101-78 at Logan). Next action for the Thunderbirds will be December 16 and 17 at Ephraim. SUSC will meet Snow College the first night in a 9 p.m. game. The next night Lunt's crew will challenge College of Eastern Utah at 7 p.m. "We didn't play very well at either Provo or Logan," Lunt lamented. "(Bob) Lowder got hurt halfway through the first half at Provo, and we couldn't use him after that. We missed his leadership." Lowder will be available for the games at Ephraim Jack Halpin (19) and Mark Sidwell (14) led the scoring at U-Tech. Ron Stott worked well inside for 26 points against USU. Charles Judd (10) and Bob Smith (10) were also in double figures in the Logan game. |
