Show BLM arrest pinenut pickers reserved for the recreatioanal use of local families and to provide Nevada Indians some op-portuniy op-portuniy for their traditional gatherings. The two men were left with adequate sacks of nuts to provide them with the normally allowed 25 pounds per family. This past weekend, BLM personnel, aided by the Nevada BLM Special Agen t, seized over 420 sacks of piny on pine cones from two illegal commercial operators in Lincoln County. The confiscated sacks were in excess of 25 pounds historically allowed for free use of local families. One of the men arrested was from western Utah, the BLM said, and the other from Clark County, Nev. District manager Neil McCleery sadi his district did not issue any permits this year to commercial nut pickers because of past public sentiment and the smalll crop this year.
