Show CHS Senior achieves National Honors two percent of the total of graduating U. S. secondary school seniors. A spokesman for NMSC stated that the corporation believes "the high standing Merit Program Commended students is an attainment that deserves public recognition, because the nation as well as these students will be benefited by continued education and personal development of their talents." Ruth Jones, a senior at Cedar High School has achieved commended student status in the 23rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program, it is announced by Dr. Jerald Hawley, principal. Miss Jones received this honor as the result of her outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test-National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which is administered nationwide to high school juniors in October Oc-tober 1976. A letter of Commendation was presented to Miss Jones. A total of approximately 35,000 Commended students throughout the United States zre being honored by the NMSC which administers the yearly scholarship ; I 1 f competition.
