Show Stephens wins Fair Ribbon .. X 1 'a A 'S C ' f After entering handwork of various descriptions in the local Iron County Fair "a whole bunch of times," Laurie Stephens,.Cedar City, finally hit the jackpot-a blue ribbon at the Utah State Fair. ' Laurie's embroidered pillowcases were selected by the judges as tops in her special . entry division. Laurie said she was very surprised and happy at receiving the honor. "And I'm already starting to work on next year's." Laurie has been an employee em-ployee of Deseret Industries, Cedar City, for the past three years. Her supervisors at Deseret said she is a very ambitious worker that has always shown good ability with her handwork. In the past, Laurie said, she has entered dishrags (knitted), sand candles, yarn hangings and other sundries. Laurie also said she likes to read--"and give book reports"--to bowl and to work with her hands. Knitting and embroidery are her favorite types of handwork. hand-work. Laurie was a member of the American Eagles 4-H Club, with Kinda Blanchard the leader, WINS TOP HONORS. Laurie Stephens, an employee of Deseret Enterprises, is here shown with her blue ribbon and pillowcases which took top honors in the Utah State Fair. |
