Show Cedar Schools Win Place on Safety Honor Roll North and West Elementary schools of Cedar City received high recognition recently when thfy wpw awarriAri mrtiflratA nf Exceptional Merit and were placed on the National School Safety Honor Roll of the Nation-1 al Safety Council. It was the third jccesslve! year that the North Elementary has received this high honor, according ac-cording to Oscar J. Hulet, principal prin-cipal and Ru!:al Woodbury, principal prin-cipal of the West Elementary indicated in-dicated that it was the first year for that school. Few schools obtain this recognition recog-nition from the National Safety Council, officials of the schools pointed out, and a spokesman also Indicated "that as long as accidents are the first ranking cause of death among school-age children, all of us in the Iron County School system will continue con-tinue our organized safety program pro-gram to teach the young people of our communities to Drotect themselves and their fellow students." stu-dents." The NSC Honor Roll was initiated init-iated in 1944. To earn a place on it, a school must present a detailed report of its safety program pro-gram to a committe composed of the school principal the president of the Parent-Teacher Association, Associa-tion, a student and a local civic leader. Based on the recommendation of this committee certificates of exceptional merit are awarded by the NSC. |
