Show AATJ SANCTIONED BOUTS ! Amateur Boxing Card Set for May 15-16 i Two nights of amateur boxing, sponsored by ?POE Lodge No. 1556 and the College of Southern Utah athletic department, will be staged at the CSU fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16. The amateur card will be sanctioned sanc-tioned by the AAU, according to promoter, Mayo "Spike" By bee, and will feature boxers from the Cedar City Elks Boys Boxing Club, Ute Reservation at Ft Duchesne, Du-chesne, Orem VFW Boxing Club, Milford. Minersville, Beaver and Kanab. It Is expected that approximately approxi-mately 10 bouts will be staged each evening and each amateur event will be three, two minute rounds. To aoear on the cards from Cedar City wll. be Erwin Le-Fevre, Le-Fevre, Tommy Loer, Leon Heaton, Leigh Rosenberg, Glen Zuniga and Floyd Pete, plus entrants from the CSU boxing squad, Including In-cluding Gene Morris, Boyd Ward, Harry Reid, Clark Bingham and Cliff Craig. In addition to the boxing card the Ute Indian Boys and a group of Piute Indians from Richfield under the direction of LaVan Martineau, formerly of Cedar City, Ci-ty, will present their "war dances" danc-es" on the U. P. Depot lawn at 4 p.m. each day. Some strong contenders In the AAU ranks are expected to be on hand for the event. Ute Reservation Reserva-tion crew from Ft. Duchesne won top honors In the Golden Gloves matches at Las Vegas this year followed by the club from Orem. In addition Bingham and Zuniga Zuni-ga of the Cedar City club turned In top performances on the Las Vegas card with Bingham winning win-ning his weight division. i : |
