Show Award Winning Play to Be Read Ai Annual Faculty Ladies Luncheon Annual College of Southern Utah Faculty Ladles' spring luncheon will be staged Saturday, Satur-day, May 9 at Hotel 1 Escalante at 1:30 p. m., It was announced this week. An outstanding afternoon of entertainment is in store for all ladies of the area who have been extended an invitation to attend by th faculty ladies' group. . Program will lnclud reading of .Archibald MacLelsh's play, "J. B.," currently playing on Broadway. The play will be read by Dr. Preston R. Gledhlll, associate asso-ciate professor of speech at the Brlgham Young University. Monday of this week play-right play-right MacLelsh won the Pulitzer prize for this play, wllh predio-Uons predio-Uons made that his latest work would become the "play of the century." B.," Is a modern story of Job, written In poetic verse and is considered a great hit on Broadway. The designer of the Broadway set for the production has this to say about MacLelsh's play: "It is an epic, heroic play and deals with timeless issues. It takes one out of his own little envlrca.nent and gives him a chance to do things bigger than life. Not every play can offer that opportunity and when one does, It is a most satisfying experience." ex-perience." Author MacLeish is a two-time vvinncr of the cjvetcd Pulitzer Prize for poetry. He won the prize In 1933 for his epic poem "Conquistador" and again in 1953 for his "Collected Poems." His activities have been outstanding out-standing in other fields as well. He served as assistant Secretary of State in 1944, was the Librarian Librar-ian for Congress for many years and was responsible, in part, for the framework of UNESCO.
