Show "Poppy Day" Poster Contest Winners Announced As the annual "Poppy Day," will be observed Saturday, May 23 this year, the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary, Unit 20, of Par- . owan, has been sponsoring a "Poppy Poster Contest" in the local high school to create interest inter-est in the event which has been a part of the Auxiliary since its i founding. On Poppy Day each year the members of the Legion Auxiliary conducts a sale of poppy replicas of those little flowers which grew so profusely on World Ward I battlefields in France and Belgium. Bel-gium. The proceeds of the sale of these poppies, is used for welfare wel-fare work among the veterans of our world wars and the families of those who have departed. Winners in the contest held during the past several weeks at the Parowan High School, have .been announced by Mrs. Herman E. Bayles, as follows. Class B, Junior High School, Vickie Lee Worthen, first; Beverly Bever-ly Boardman, second; Richard Van Ausdal, third. Class C, senior high school, Darlene Thornton, first; P.oaine Reese, second and Charles Board-man, Board-man, third. |
