Show Quotas, Not Tariffs, Answer to Meat Problem, Bruhn Says "Quotas and not high tariffs are the answer to huge imports of meat products," William G. Bruhn, Democratic candidate for Congress said Saturday. Speaking at a cottage meeting in Cedar City, Mr. Bruhn said the solution suggested by his op. ponent of high tariffs is noc the answer. The answer is to cut back quotas quo-tas to what they were four or five years ago, he said. "Investigations I have made show that about 38 nations ship meat products into the United States. Many of these have regulations reg-ulations that virtually freeze U. S. meat products out of their markets," Mr. Bruhn said. By setting quotas of about five years ago, the consumer will not suffer from higher prices, he declared. |
