Show Preparations Hearing Completion For Annual Cedar City Art Exhibit Activities, "d preparations for tne 24th annual Cedar City Art Exhibit to be held April 12 through 26 at the South Elementary Elemen-tary School, are proceeding with dispatch. Glen Dale Anderson, chairman chair-man of the show, and a participating partici-pating artist, has indicated that this promises to be a most memorable mem-orable one. A number of paintings paint-ings have already been received and both diversity of styles and media are indicative of an exceptionally ex-ceptionally fine offering for the art patrons of the Iron County area. Mrs. G. D. MacDonald announces an-nounces that the program on April 12 will be given by Franz Johansen, Assistant Professor of Art t Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. Professor Johansen earned his B. A. and M. A. degrees at blU, has studied ai iiie iiiliiuia Institute of Technology, the California Cal-ifornia College of Arts and Crafts, and the Acadamie De Chaumier in Paris, France. The Art Exhibit committee is looking forward to examples of his work in sculpture, which has been his major emphasis in the creative field. Professor Johansen lias recently recent-ly returned from study in the European countries of Italy and Southern France, and will deliver de-liver his Illustrated lecture on "Unique Segments of Furopcan Art." Those In charge are cer tain that visitors will find it a most stimulating and exciting experience. Speaking on the second program, pro-gram, April 19 will be Dr. Roy-den Roy-den C. Braithwaite, Director of College of Southern Utah. His topic will center on the theme, "The Artist in Each of Us: Our Basic Struggle for Integrity, Freedom and Fulfillment." The third and last program will be conducted by Professor R. L. Halversen, Chairman of the Fine Arts Division of the College Col-lege of Southern Utah, who will conduct a String Quartet and program on April 2G. |
