Show Cedar City Bowlers Participate in Utah State Meet, Make Commendable Showing The Cedar Bowling Lanes team picked up fourth place In the annual an-nual Utah State Bowling Championship Cham-pionship tournament held recently recent-ly In Ogden. Members of the team are Bob Cormani, Leo Cahoon, Ren Taylor, Tay-lor, Gary Middleton and Hump Rosenberg. A total of 208 entries participated partici-pated In the team event, Including Includ-ing three teams from Cedar City. Other teams from Cedar In the state event were Meadow Gold Dairies, Bill Dover, Kent Dover, Jack Strate, Jim Amend and El- wood Bowler, who finished out of the money In 48th place, and Adam's Bambs, Including Grant Seegmlller, Gordon Twitchell, Mel Adam, Dudley Alger and Vlrg Smith. They finished in 130th place. Mel Adam finished higher than any other Cedar entry in the singles i n competition when he rolled a 620 scratch series to place ninth in competition with 844 other singles entries. Four others from Cedar City placed In the money in singles. They were Elwood Bowler, 28th with a 578 scratch series; Virg Smith, 34th with a 627; Jack Strate, 58th with a 592 and Bob Cormoni, 69th with a 601 series. Others placing in the singles but out of the money included Gary Middleton In 115th; Ren Taylor, 187th; Leo Cahoon, 291st; Jim Amend, 344th; Dudley Alger, 351st; Kent Dover, 364th; Bill Dover, 397th; Gordon Twitchell, 492nd; Grant Seegmiller, 625th; Dick Winterrose, 739th, and Hump Rosenberg, 796th. Only one local team finished in the money in the doubles competition. com-petition. Rosenberg and Cormani teamed to finish in 43rd place. A total of 422 teams entered. Other teams finished as follows: Amend and Strate, 191st; Seegmiller Seeg-miller and Smith, 217; Twitchell and Alger, 219th; Cahoon and Gary Middleton, 256th; Bill Dover and Taylor, 340th; Winterrose and Adam, 348th; Bowler and Kent Dover, 397th. In the all-events competition two men were In the money. Bob Comanl led the way, finishing 13th in a field of 254 with a score of 1769. In 16th place was Virg Smith with a 1761. Other entries included Twitchell, 133rd; Rosenberg, Rosen-berg, 149th; Seegmiller, 150th; Alger, 155th and Adam, 171st. |
