Show Cedar High Athletes Enter Dixie Invitational Meet Coach Hal Norton will take a squad of approximately 20 men to the Annual Dixie College Track and Field meet to be held at St. George Saturday. Trial events for the meet which will include approximately 25 high schools, are slated to begin at 9 a. m. with finals to begin at 1 p. m. All track and field events will be staged at the Dixie High School track. Of the 20 only six have had previous experience in track and field competition. Eldon Bryant, who finished third in the Region meet last year will be out to improve im-prove his status this year in the quarter mile. Robert Corry finished fin-ished third in the Region in the mile run last year and is one of the hopeful point-getters in this first outing of the year. In the sprints Coach Norton will be calling on Paul Gardner and Mike Carr with John Rollo and Dennis Dalley in the high jump. Mike Webster will be an entrant in the low hurdle and broadjumping events. All participated par-ticipated last year. Lee Hunter, a senior who is participating In track and field for the first time this season is expected to be a strong contender in the shot put. Weather has also been a factor fac-tor that has hampered training and preparation for the opening meet of the season. Many of the boys are untried and their capabilities ca-pabilities are still not known because be-cause of the weather factor, Norton Nor-ton stated. |
