Show By Dennis Colbert Well, spring is definitely here, or at least It Is at C II S. The baseball team is out running through its drills, the track team is pounding the turf each day, spring fever has invaded the school and love is in the air. Yes, spring IS here. Convention The 28th annual convention of the Utah Association for the Future Fu-ture Farmers of America will be held at Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City March 29. 30 and 31. The local chapter will send seven Future Farmers to the convention. con-vention. They are: Dick Cox, president; Bud Garfield, vice president; Bill Lamb, secretary; Conway Le Baron, treasurer; Scott Jensen and Girth Jones, reporters; report-ers; Leon Maxwell, sentinel, and Elmer Cox, advisor. Although Cedar lost In the Parliamentary Par-liamentary Procedure and public speaking contest in Hurricane, they will attend all sessions', including in-cluding these. Results Announced Tuesday, word was received that seven Cedar High School students were eligible to participate partici-pate In the State Speech Contest Con-test after winning in the Region Speech Festival, held in St. George last Friday. A one-act play, "The Bishop's Candlesticks." was selected, as well as one from Dixie, to represent repre-sent the region at the state meet. Ken Jones won first place with a humorous reading and a radio speech, and Ralph Higbee won first In pantomlne. Miss Barbara Gaddie and her students are to be congratulated on their fine work. Good luck at the state meet. Post Prom The Junior class, and its officers, offi-cers, were very pleased with the response given in supporting the Junior Prom. The dance was very successful with a large crowd attending. The attendance of so many parents was especially especial-ly appreciated. The Tost Prom will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 9 p. m. in the high school gym. Everyone Is invited to attend and dance the evening away, under the beautiful Prom decorations. Sports Now that the basketballs have been put away for another year, the sports spotlight shines on baseball and track. The three o'clock athletics class has taken to the track, getting get-ting In shape for the Dixie Track Meet to be held April 14, in St. George. The track team has a state championship to defend and will do their best to do a repeat re-peat performance. Also, the baseball team has been working out lately, preparing prepar-ing for the first game. Last year the Redmen baaseballers tied for first place with Hurricane and Dixie and will be out to defend their share of the title this year. Their first battle will be with the Hurricane Tigers', April 12, in Cedar City. . THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK; People were shiftless long before automobiles were. |
