Show DATES ESTABLISHED Board of Directors Formulates Plans for Little League Program Plans for the coming season for Little League baseball in Cedar Ce-dar City were formulated at a meeting of the board of directors of the local league Friday. Datej for the opening of league com-, petition was set as May 28, ind arrangements made for prejimin-i ary activities, including try-outs! and player selection were out- lined, Lester Heyborne, league president, states. Tryouts for boys who wish to participate in the program this year will begin on Saturday, April 14, and continue on each Saturday until May 12. Thus the I boys will have five Saturdavs, I April 14. 21, 28, May 5 and 12. on which to show what they can do. Player Selection On Monday. May 14, managers will select players to complete their rosters for 1956, and will then have two weeks, until May 28. to organize their teams and give the boys special instructions. instruc-tions. As was done last year, each manager will be allowed to select as many boys as he wishes, but it will be necessary for each to cut his squad to 15 men bv the opening of .Vague play on May 28. Team roster regulations will remain the same as last year. Each team must have five boys 10 years of age or younger, and no team will be permitted to carry more than five boys who are 12 years of age. In order to be eligible to participate, par-ticipate, each boy must first register reg-ister with the Player Agent, Morgan Mor-gan Rollo, and have the signature signa-ture of both his mother and father as Indication of their approval ap-proval of his participation In the program. Boys who have already rgistered need not register again, but any boys' who has not previously pre-viously registered should caV at the Iron County Record and pick up a registration card, have tt signed and return it to Mr. Rollo as soon as oosslble. Practice Sessions Prospective players will be called to practice at designated hours on each of the five Saturdays' Sat-urdays' listed. Announcement of hours and place will be made Jater. Considerable Work is being done on the recreation ground where the baseball diamonds are located and it may be necessary to hold some of the try-out sessions ses-sions at some other location, so youngsters Interested should watch for announcements. There will be six teams in the league again tms year, Elks, Rotary, Ro-tary, Lions, Kiwanis, Columbia Iron Mines and Milne Truck Line. Managers for the teams have not yet been announced, Mr. Heyborne Hey-borne says, but manager rosters will be completed before the first try-out date. |
