Show Coach and Team Are Honored at Award Assembly In an assembly held last week to honor the Parowan High School basketbaU team, Coach Dick Jones and others who helped help-ed make the past season such a success for the Parowan team, the Parowan Volunteer Fire Department De-partment presented the school and all of those being honored, j suitable trophies and awards. I The program was held in the I auditorium, and after the stu-I stu-I dents, along with a large turn-1 turn-1 out of townspeople had filed into j the building, the stage curtain I was drawn, revealing the coach .and members of his ball squad seated on the stage with the girls of the Ramettes Club, high school pep group, standing be hind the players. S. M. Clark, fire chief, was master of ceremonies, with Down Town Coach Howard Adams giving a review of the past season sea-son In basketball. The latter related re-lated highlights from games played and referred to the Individual In-dividual team members efforts in those games. He told of high-'lights high-'lights in each game played. Clark then presented a large trophy, containing a picture of the team and coach to the school and smaller Individual trophies to each played and to Coach Jones. Each player and the coach spoke briefly during the presen-I presen-I tatlon. Clark then presented neck ! pieces or lockets to the cheer i leaders who have led the cheering cheer-ing during the games this year. He then presented an award to Principal Max S. Dalley for his part in the season's' success. By the way, this was a locket, too. J Principal Dalley then spoke 1 brleOy, complimenting the team members and others for their good work this year. He also complimented them for their eon-duct eon-duct during the week they were in Provo, stating that the hotel staff and cafe managers where the stayed and ate, were loud in their praise for .the actions of the boys. Those receiving trophies were ' Coach Jones, Don Stubbs, Con-'neU Con-'neU Mitchell, Kent Whitney, Stuart Adams, John Simkins, , Alan Daily. Reed Thornton. Jim Burt, Carlyle Rollins, Don Halter, man and Roger Skougard. team members; Cathy Smith, Maxine Joseph and Luella Phillips, cheer, leaders, and Kenyon Clark, athletic ath-letic manager. |
