Show Winners Receive CasL Awards in A. L. Auxiliary Contest Four cash prizes were awarded last week to winners in the annual an-nual American Legion Auxiliary contest conducted in the Junior and senior high schools of Cedar City. The 'essay contestants were heard at the Auxiliary meeting Wednesdal, Mar. 21 and a first and second prize was awarded in each of the divisions. On the Senior High School lev-el lev-el the first place winner was Mi chael Frame, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernee Frame. Second place honors hon-ors were awarded to Marie Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beck. Sandra Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood, won first place in the junior high school division, followed in second place by Ruth Marie Bauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaVand Bauer. Title of the contest this year, according to Mrs. G. D. McGarry, auxiliary Americanism chairman, was "What It Means to Be an American." Sponsorship of the contest by the Auxiliary was through the cooperative effrts of the English departments of tlie two schools. |
