Show Women Voters League Elects Officers I Representatives from the national na-tional and state Leagues of Women Wo-men Voters' were In attendance Monday at the annual meeting of the Cedar City League of Women Voters. The meeting was conduct -ed by Mrs. Karl Gardner, presl-j dent. I In Introducing the visiting delegation del-egation Mrs. Gardner paid special spe-cial tribute to Miss Irene Sweeney, Swee-ney, organizing secretary of thei national organization in Wash-! ington, D. C. "Miss Sweeney," she' pointed out, "was instrumental in j the organization of our local league making several trips to help get us started. We feel that she Is a part of our league." Representatives from the state level were state president, Mrs. Roger Bailey, and Miss Marie Thompson, state board member. Both are from Salt Lake City. Also In attendance was Mrs. L. V. Broadbent, a member of the local league and also a member of the state board. Principal item of business for the general session was the election elec-tion of new officers for the coming com-ing year, and the adoption of a budget for 1956-57. Mrs. Gardner, elected for a two-year term as president, will complete her term during the next fiscal year. New officers were accepted by accla mation. They included Mrs. Dale Milne, second vice president: Mrs. Kenneth Reese, treasurer, and Mrs. M. A. Cowley, Mrs. D. W. Cony, Mrs. John Rowberry. Mrs. Dee Cowan, Mrs. Leo Cahoon and Mrs. D. C. Schmutz, directors. Announcement was also made at the meeting that Mrs. Milne would represent the Cedar LWV at the national convention to be held in Chicago AprU 30 through May 4. Mrs. Broadbent, also of the local group, will attend as a delegate of the Utah LWV. Delegates at the state council meeting on April 19 In Salt Lake City will be Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Corry. In addition to the general ses-slon ses-slon the board of directors met In two separate sessions with the visiting dignitaries for the purpose pur-pose of orientatoin. |
