Show BroncoLettermen Team With Hopefuls Five lettermen, backed up by over 20 new hopefuls at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah, have been hard at work this week in preparation prep-aration for track and field under the able eye of Coach Bruce Osborne. From all Indications the C S U Broncos will be strong in the field events this year with the shot put, backed up by Kenneth Benson, a letterman, and the jav-' elin with another letterman, Gary Robinson, leading the pace. Bill Meador, a sprint star for the Broncos last season is on the j question list at the present time after submitting to surgery recently. re-cently. It is not expected that Meador will be ready for the ear-iy ear-iy mets; however, Osborne feels that he will be available for the later meets and particularly the Intercollegiate Athletic Confer-" Confer-" ence meet which will not be held until May 10 and 11. Other Banner Bearers Other returning Jettermen include in-clude Don L. Rasmussen in the quarter mile, and Leo Prestflch, who will work in the field events as well as on the quarter mile and the relay team. Another letterman, let-terman, although not of last year, will be Ray Stephenson, a Cedar City Jad who will be expected to garner points' in the high Jump. The 85 man squad is now making mak-ing preparations for the first meet of the season to be held on the C S U cinders on Friday, April 20. It is the first CSU invita-tlonal invita-tlonal meet which Coach Osborne hopes will become an annual event. The meet will be staged in connection with the Vocational Vocation-al Day activities on the campus. Other meets' this season will include the B Y U Invitational on April 27 and 28 followed by the Weber College Invitational on Saturday, May 5. Warm Up Met A warm-up meet will be held at C S U in the form of an intramural intra-mural track and field meet tentatively ten-tatively set for Friday, April 13. In the weights Jimmy Nielson will combine with Benson, to made a strong duo in the shot put, and Robinson is working with Donald Floyd and Ray Thornton of Delta and Millard High Schools, respectively, to provide pro-vide strength in the Javelin. Sprint starts who will compete on the local campus with Meador Mea-dor will be Bob Vest, Delta; Burke Johnson. Aurora; Dave Hatch, Panguitch, and Terry Bo-lander, Bo-lander, Cedar City.
