Show New College Library Facilities Open: Dedicatory Services Scheduled For Mav 18 The 75,000 book capacity library just recently constructed construct-ed on the campus of the College of Southern Utah was opened to student study last Friday morning following a three-day moving operation, according to Mrs. Dan Jones, librarian. The ultra-modern library building and facilities were available to students Friday following a mammoth A Day moving project. The library in its present stage offers j a selection of approximately 20,000 volumes excluding periodical period-ical publications. One of the most important features of tlio facilities is the availability of the stacks to the students. In addition to this availability, Mrs. Jones said, is the properly lighted stack area. Windows Well Arranged Windows in the study area are , high, eliminating distractions, yet giving adequatj lighting from the sun. Mrs. Jones said that since they have moved into the new library students have automatically auto-matically turned on the lights when actually they are not needed. need-ed. In add-ation add-ation to the regular facilities a Lecture Lounge Is available to the various clubs and organizations organiz-ations for special book reviews, club meetings and other special occasions. At the present time the library lib-rary hours have been set at 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day except ex-cept Sunday. Evening hours, for student studv and for use bv the public If they so defcire, will be 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Although all books have not yet been transferred from the old library It Is" expected that It will be completed prior to the Auditorium-Library dedication dedica-tion to be held on Wednesday, May 18. On that date the public has been cordially invited to attend the celebration and view the facilities of the new Library, Mrs. Jones said. |
