Show 42nd Anniversary Observance Set By Motel Industry In observance of the 42nd anniversary an-niversary of the motel-motor court industry, Mayor Arnold Anderson has proclaimed May 2 to 8 as "National Motel Week In Cedar City." Saluting the phenomenal growth of the notel business during dur-ing its comparatively brief life, Mayor Anderson declared, "Ser-ivlce "Ser-ivlce to the highway traveler has made the motel-motor court industry in-dustry one of the largest In the community." Local motel owners, in cooperation cooper-ation with the Utah State Motel Association, have made plans for an open house on the final two days of Ihe celebration, May 7 and 8. At that time the operators will encourage residents to come out and visit the motel units in their own cities. It was pointed out by a spokesman for the local matels that most people in the community, commu-nity, although familiar with motels mo-tels in general, are not famrliar with the modern accommodations of the local units. An invitation for all residents to visit the motels on May 7 and 8 was extended. Local motels associated as-sociated with the state association associa-tion are Cedar Crest, Zion, Knell, EIRey and El Patio units. The state Is also offering free accommodations throughout the week for couples being married between May 2 and 8. Although not quite cricket, the spokesman said, a couple could get married on Monday, and spend the night in a different city throughout the week without paying a cent. |
