The students to win superior super-ior were Jackie Winterrose, Karen Kar-en Oldroyd and Ronnie Mclntyre. Jackie and Karen were chosen outstanding readers in their groups of about 20 participants. Miss Winterrose was chosen to give her reading as one of four in an assembly at the end of the days activities. A bound volume vol-ume of "Poetry of the Drama" was given to the Cedar City group for participating. The high school students got a general outlook on possible careers car-eers yesterday and today, April 27 and 28. One hour assemblies wer held both days at 9 a. m. Films and information about various var-ious jobs was given by the State director of guidance, the Central Utah Area Vocational School, and the local Army Recruiting officer. offi-cer. The juniors at the high school have been given the Kudner Vocational Vo-cational Preference Test during the .past week. This test is given every year to the junior class to help its members choose what kind of work they would like to do. It is a vocational interest test. Richard Gillies, high school teacher and guidance counselor gave the tests. A large number of students from the Cedar Citv High School will take part in the Region Six Music Festival to be held at Par-owan Par-owan on Saturday, May 7. The high school band, orchestra and choruses will participate In the long-awaited festival. The judges for the event are all competent music teachers from northern Utah. One of the highlights will be a parade in which all the bands will participate at 4 p. m. A cast of 30 students will present pre-sent a biblical plav called "Family "Fam-ily Portrait" next Thursday, May 5. Biblical costumes and authentic authen-tic backdrops obtained from the If S A C will be used. The main characters are Jeanene Gower, Juanita Hazel, Jerry Frame, Jay Perkins. Kay Ashcroft and Gardner Gard-ner Dalley. |
