Show Commissioners Press Construction on Parowan Canyon Road At the regular meeting of the Board of Iron County Commissioners Commis-sioners last week. Commissioner Douglas Clark, who is chairman of roads in Iron county, reported on a meeting between the members mem-bers of the Iron County Commission Commis-sion and D. H. Whittenburg, chairman of the Utah state road commission during the recent convention of County Officials in Salt Lake City. The meeting, took place at the Newhouse hotel at which time the Parowan Canyon road was the main topic of discussion. discus-sion. The Iron County Commissioners Commis-sioners called Mr. Wriittenberg's attention to a former promise of money for work on that road, and obtained another promise of an expenditure of between $20,000 and $30,000 a year onj that road. This is the way the first seven miles of the road has been constructed, con-structed, a little bit each year with the seven miles now brought up to an oiled standard. At the same meeting E. J. King of Parowan, and T. A. Topham of Paragonah were appointed to the Iron County Welfare board for six year terms. Mr. King replaced John W. Bentley, and Mr. Top-ham Top-ham replaced J. Lowe Barton, both of whom had resigned. The county board approved the sale of several pieces of land ac-quired ac-quired by tax sale, to individuals, individ-uals, the rnst important being the sale of three mining claims in the Stateline Mining district. These claims were sold to Oscar P. Sohnius and his wife Louise Sohnius of Los Angeles, for a icash cosideration of $2,000. |
