Show 'Rainmakers' Set Annual Confab in March Dr. Vincent Schaefer, chief research re-search scientist, General Electric Corporation. Scnenectady, N. Y., has been invited to speak at the annual meeting of Southern Utah Water Resources Development Corporation (Rainmakers) in the Sevier Stake tabernacle. Richfield, Rich-field, Utah, at 2 p. m. Wednesday, Wednes-day, March 11, according to W. Lloyd Johnson, president of this non-profit corporation. Mr. Johnson states that Dr. Schaefer is one of the scientists who discovered the technique of weather modification in the re-search re-search laboratories of General Electric Corporation in 1916 and, as a result of his pioneering research, re-search, the science of weather modification has developed into a prominent industry in semi-arid semi-arid areas of the world. Dr. Schaefer will discuss developments develop-ments in weather modification. Mr. Johnson stated this is the second annual meeting of the corporation and the first session will begin at 10 a. m. in the Sevier Stake tabernacle with Dr. Erving P. Krick, known the world over as "Mr. Rainmaker", reporting report-ing on cloud seeding operations in southern Utah. Following Dr. Krick will be Dr. J. Vern Hales and Mr. Thomas Hoffer, who will present a progress report on weather modification evaluation work being conducted at the University Uni-versity of Utah. The meetings will continue during the evening with a panel discussion planned for 7:30 that evening. An invitation is extended extend-ed to all the people in southern Utah to attend these meetings and receive first hand information informa-tion relative to the economic significance sig-nificance of weather modification modifica-tion in the southern Utah opera-i opera-i tion, as well as the world over. |
