Show World Day of Prayer Planned By Presbyterians A World Day of Prayer service will be held at 8 p. m. on Friday, Fri-day, Feb. 20, in the Community Presbyterian church. The theme of the service will be "Walk as Children of Light; Much of the worship material has come from Africa, from a people who traditionally tradi-tionally have experienced their religion deep within their hearts. The service has been prepared by the General Department of i United Church Women of the Na-l Na-l tirnal Council of Churches. For 66 years the World Day of Prayer has been observed on the first Friday in Lent by church women. This year 17,000 communities commu-nities in the United States and 114 foreign countries around the world will join the observance, which will begin in New Zealand and the Fiji Islands, west of the date line, and continue throughout through-out the day, closing In Alaska, and the Tonga Islands. The purpose of the World Day of Prayer is the extending of the Christian fellowship of prayer around the world, and the building build-ing of world brotherhood. The offering Is used at hme and abroad for work with the Ameri-can Ameri-can Indians and migrants, for Christian literature in Asia, Afri-ca Afri-ca and Latin America, for women's wo-men's Christian college in India and Japan, and for foreign students stu-dents in American colleges. Every one who is Interested Is invited to attend. |
