Show Television Ccmmittee Investigates Cedar City Reception A test of television signals in I the Cedar City area will ho made about March 10, according to John F.owberry, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce television committee. The tests will be made by Cutler R, Miller, field engineer for KSL-TV. Equipment will be used that is capable of measuring TV signals very much weaker than could be i used for entertainment purposes, I which will enable him to explore the Cedar City area, including promising elevated points accessible acces-sible for possible presence of TV signals. The survey will be made to determine the possibility of bringing television into the area, and also the best means of doing ! so. Other cities with TV reception difficulties similar to those in Cedar City, have solved the problem prob-lem bv "piping" television to the area. The Chamber of Commerce committee plans to explore this possibility thoroughly, Mr. Row-berry Row-berry says. thoroughly, Mr. Rowberry says. He also points out another possibility pos-sibility for bringing television to Cedar City, and that is a direct signal from Las Vegas. Three applications ap-plications for television stations in Las Vegas have been filed, and in all probability at least one of there will be in operation in from six to eight months. It is not known whether a direct signal from the Nevada city to Cedar City would be possible, but tests will be made to determine ithat possibility. Piping from Las Vegas may be the best solution, Mr. Rowberry states. The committee will continue to explore every possibility of bringing TV to Cedar City and 'surrounding area, the committee chairman said. r |
