Show Faculty Members Halt Construction On BAC Ranch House Construction on the new ranch house at the Branch Agricultural college mountain ranch has come ! to a standstill, but faculty members mem-bers at the college are busy with plans for starting work agairt as soon as weather permits. The building of the ranch house has been undertaken as a project of the BAC faculty association. as-sociation. Funds for the materials mater-ials were appropriated by the state, but all labor and some of the materials have been furnished fur-nished by members of the association. asso-ciation. All labor has been voluntary, and has been put on during Saturdays and after-school hours. The funds appropriated for the repairs and renovation would have been insufficient for a complete com-plete rebuilding job, which was found necessary. The foundation of the old building was in poor condition, and the structure was badly deteriorating. The former building was razed, and during the open weather in the fall three large loads of logs were hauled down for use in the new building. build-ing. The forest service contributed contribut-ed the logs, and faculty members, mem-bers, under the direction of Vern Kupfer, association president, cut and trimmed them. The new building, for which detailed plans have now been drawn us, will be larger than the former one. and will have a second sec-ond floor for sleeping rooms. It will be used as headquarters for the summer range experiment work of the college, and for recreation rec-reation headquarters. In winter it becomes a ski lodge. When completed, the building will be worth several times the $2700 it will cost for material. Much of the material from the old house will be used again. |
