Show Earl Spencer Attends Machinist's School in U S Navy Earl Spencer. A A, U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Spencer of Cedar City is now attending the Navy school for aviation machinist's ma-chinist's mate, at Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Spencer enlisted in the U. S. Navy at Cedar City on July 9. l!f2, and was sent to the U. S. Naval Training Center at San Diego, Calif, for his recruit training. train-ing. Completing this in September. Septem-ber. Mr. Spencer was promoted to iviation apprentice and given U' days leave, whieh he spent in Cedar City with his parents. When the leave period ended he reported to Norman, Okla. ft r the 3-week Aviation Fundamental school, and was given leave from this school so he could spend Christmas with his parents. Upon completion of the fundamental funda-mental school Mr. Spencer was sent to Aviation Machinist's Mate school at Jacksonville, where he will icceive training in airplane hand'i.ig, service main-tenance, main-tenance, install, repair engines, remove and install instruments such as pumps, oil coolers and control pane.:-; perform duties involving teeing and operating engines, consols and other equipment. T;ns 14-week school provides indoctrination (18 hours) Ignition (62 hours i, carr buretors (40 hours), propellors (40 hours) and engine shop (160 hours). On comp'.jM.-n of the school Mr. Spencer may go to a Naval air station, or tome aviation unit with the flee or may be selected to attend an advanced school. The last word from Mr. Spencer Spen-cer is that the Navy is great and the training he is receiving is invaluable. |
